About | Ahmed Faizan Naveed
Ahmed Faizan Naveed is a non-disciplinary practitioner. His experiments range from designing spaces to exhibiting “Living Sculptures,” and orchestrating classrooms and collaborations with people from various fields. He is driven by everyday minuscule details and the unseen agencies that shape our understanding of the world around us.
Faizan engages in the transformative act of perception—claiming spaces, objects, and ephemeral moments as artworks. His work blurs the line between the real and the imagined, probing light, materiality, and the fragile intersections between virtual and physical realities.
A UNESCO scholar, Faizan holds an MPhil. in Art Education and a BFA (Hons.) in Visual Arts, awarded with distinction. His work has been exhibited widely across Pakistan and internationally - featured in biennales, museums, and public spaces. Notable presentations include the Venice Biennale’s Imago Mundi Project, collateral events of the Lahore Biennale, and exhibitions in Italy, Canada, Spain, and the UK. In 2020, he was a finalist for the Awesome Grant.
He is the co-founder of Siffer Platform, an ecosystem of creatives working beyond disciplinary bounds to realize disruptive ideas and experimental projects from emerging economies, bridging like-minded people and expertise through collaborative methods.
Currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Visual Arts and Design, Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, Faizan designs courses that mirror his creative ethos and extend his artistic inquiry into pedagogy. His teaching practice is an ongoing conceptual work, where he orchestrates courses as immersive experiences, pushing students to rethink art beyond the studio or gallery. He is currently making a compelling case that a syllabus can, in fact, be a conceptual sculpture. So far, he’s been met with curiosity and more than one “Aha!” moment.
